Boundary Waters
Into the woods and waters I go.
A week of solitude and silence…
The boundary between self and water will dissolve as the days blend together.
There will be little to distract me from my relationship with Earth and all the plants and animals that I consider my relatives.
A week without words, human words that is.. The chatter of the squirrels, the songs of the birds, the buzz of the insects, the lapping of the water and the swishing of the wind.. this will be my communication.
Endeavors like these are deeply healing for me. Deeply nourishing.
As I write, emotions well up from deep inside, relief… excitement… almost tears…
Time alone with it all is my medicine for the times we live in.
Do I have some fear? Yes, but less and less with each endeavor.
Less and less as I become whole and complete, more interconnected and less separate from it all.
This is my latest outing into the Fall in quite some time, so I have some concerns of being cold. But the cold will be worth the solitude.
No longer do I fear the black bear, our friend of the forest.
I have 5 pounds of wild rice, a pint of deer fat, 3 quarts of applesauce, a handful of fresh apples, wild garlic and some dehydrated fruit, venison, herbs, teas, salt, oh and a couple handfuls of hazel nuts. Along with the bounty from the land I have foraged, I will live off fish from the water.
This is not a respite from my mission. This is my mission. To remain HUMAN in a time when we are losing connection with ourselves and our humanity.
I stay quite productive out here. I will be writing extensively as my year of foraging comes to an end. Organizing and visioning my life…
Self-care is an act of resistance. Wholeness is an act of resistance. Being in LOVE with Earth, so deeply that we become warrior stewards is deeply strategic.
I return October 5th and I’ll share with you soon after.
Between now and then, I encourage you to get outside, leave the phone at home and perhaps take 24 hours off all screens. Take your connection with life up a level.
Love,
Robin
