The Off the Grid 1% Initiative

Robin is here to help the planet. He realizes that it takes the actions of individuals to make a collective change. He has started with himself and has taken the steps to live a green life from selling his car and going peddle powered, eating a primarily organic and vegetarian diet, and stopping the use of chemical products such as cosmetics and cleaning supplies to the simple things like not using heating or AC, unplugging electronics and using natural lighting, and recycling. If everyone did their part the earth would stay beautiful. Robin realizes that we aren’t all doing our part so he takes action to help others live a better life and in turn create a happier and healthier earth. In 2011 Robin founded The Greenfield Group, an environmentally active marketing company that aims to use 10% of the revenue it creates for environmental purposes. The efforts so far have included starting a free bike program in his community, door-to-door free light bulb exchanges, holding trash cleanups. The Greenfield Group is a member of 1% For The Planet and is a carbon free company partnered with Environmental Work Prepping bikes for Green Rides, a free bike program that Robin put together for his community and visitors of the community. Getting bulbs ready for a free bulb exchange in his community. Robin gives out free CFL bulbs in exchange for incandescent bulbs. Switching to CFL bulbs is one the simplest but most effective acts you can do to make your home greener. Making guitar picks out of old hotel keycards for his Picks for the Planet Program. The picks are donated to Guitars in the Classroom, a non-profit that trains teachers to incorporate music in their lesson plan. A successful day of cleaning up trash with friends in San Diego near the Tijuana, Mexico border Robin makes an effort to incorporate helping the earth into his daily activities. If we all picked up the trash we saw the earth would be a much cleaner place. Robin is an ambassador of 1% for the Planet.

Off the Grid Across the USA

Pedaling Coast to Coast for a Sustainable Nation

The 1% for the Planet Initiative

We are working with environmental non-profits that are part of the solution to the issues that Off the Grid Across the USA is bringing to our attention. Each of these environmental nonprofits are researched by 1% for the Planet and approved to meet their environmental criteria. They are “bona fide environmental groups, with clear objectives and a track record of effective environmental initiatives.” If 1% for the Planet believes in them so do we.

As a donor you can rest assured that your money will be used efficiently to create a healthier planet.

Each organization was along the bike route therefore we spent time with each of them.

Donate to the cause of your choice below or to our general fund that we will split between them.
