Meet Ron Turney, Water Protector from the White Earth Nation.

While many of us wonder what we can do for Earth, Ron has been diligently standing by Earth’s side, protecting our water. This is a man of true dedication, part of a community of Anishanaabe people that are a stronghold for our chance of a quality future for our humanity.

Ron lives in what is now called Northern Minnesota and his people have been there for more time than most of us can fathom, living in harmony with the land. Today, there is a great threat to this land and that is the Line 3 Pipeline. In truth, this pipeline is just one of many threats that have come, that currently are, and that will undoubtedly arrive in the years to come. For Ron and his community, standing strong against this extractive pipeline, is about standing against all colonialism, racism and destruction of our home and humanity.

We all have our place in standing with Earth and Ron has found his. As a highly skilled photographer and videographer he has been diligently monitoring and documenting what Enbridge’s Line 3 destruction project has done to our wetlands, rivers, and aquifers. Like many extractive projects, Enbridge is trying to force this project thru, cutting corners, and counting on keeping the public and regulators in the dark. This is why Ron’s work is so important.

He has been looking after the water, documenting their carelessness to Earth since July.

He has documented what the drillers don’t want us to see… What politicians and regulators needs to know to protect our water (because of course the regulators aren’t doing the proper monitoring)… What is needed to galvanize people against the destruction to keep the government accountable…

And what is needed to piece together the puzzle to shut this extractive project down.

He has brought samples to Washington DC.

He has been at the meetings asking the tough questions.

He was asked to speak at the COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow, Scotland but the river was looking the worst it’s been so he stayed back to be with the river.

Ron needs our help to purchase some new equipment to monitor and report. And he is close to reaching his goal because of great support he’s had already. He is 80% of the way, and you can help to make this happen. Please donate to his fundraiser and share it so he can continue to look after our waters and document the environmental damage to #StopLine3!
