A Message of Love and Support to the Los Angeles Community
To my Dear Friends of Los Angeles,
I am holding you deeply in my heart. I see the incredible struggle that you are going through. I know many of you are feeling heartbroken, despair, shocked, afraid, stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted and perhaps lost. I see the challenges that lie ahead for many of you.
I want you to know that I see you, I’m listening, and I will be with you in person soon.
With the deep struggle of many in the community in my focus and in my heart, I will come to LA in a place of service, sensitive to the needs and desires of the community. My teammate Melissa (who is located in LA) and have been listening.
For those around the world who are checking in on me on my walk from Canada to LA, there is no need to be concerned about my well-being or safety. I will not be walking into any dangerous situation. For all who are concerned for me, please focus that energy and attention on being of service to those in need of support.
For some time, I have been scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles in January, the completion of my walk from Canada that started July 28th, 2024. Upon arrival, my plan has been to give away everything I own, entering into an experiment of non-ownership.
I have delayed my arrival to Los Angeles now to January 26th.
My arrival in Los Angeles is coming at a very unique time. I have heard from many members of the community that they feel confident that my presence, including this unique experiment, will be of benefit to the community at this time. I understand that some Dear Friends of Los Angeles think otherwise.
I will be present as a servant to the community, with the utmost of compassion for all who I interact with. Existing in a state of non-ownership, I am confident that I will give far more to the community than I receive, as that has always been the deep roots of this experiment.
Food, shelter and material resources are pressing needs for many community members right now. I will not take away from these resources. Just as poignant for many right now are the needs for deep presence, compassion and empathy, to be seen and heard and to be understood. These are needs that I will help to meet with my practice and my presence.
Six days per week I will be hosting community space in Griffith Park. This will be a space of community healing, self-care, compassionate communication, healing and deep connection. Connection to Earth, connection to self and connection with community. I would love to collaborate with community members who have healing gifts to offer. Please contact Melissa if you would like to share an offering in our Community Care sessions.
There are also many in this time looking for a new way forward to meet their needs for stability, purpose and meaning in life. There are many looking to gain security in a relationship with Earth, our home. There are many looking to build community resilience for difficult times and times of joy. There are many looking to find a home within themselves, amidst the chaos of our times. I will be here to support with this.
I love you all very much,
Robin
