I’m riding my bike up here in North County, San Diego and I see this tomato field behind me. And I’m riding and then bam, what do we have here? This is standard in the US. This is a tomato farm.

Half of all food is wasted in the US. And this right here is what you don’t see on the grocery store shelves. It’s not what you see on the packages, the pretty pictures, but this right here is a perfect example of how half of all food in the United States is wasted, while 1 in 7 US Americans are food insecure. This right here, this is the current food system that we have.
